A 5-minute walk takes you to the village square of Monieux under the plane trees sheltered from the heat. You sit next to a beautiful fountain, hardly any traffic, there is no more Provencal than this. Delicious peach and apple pie with your coffee.
This is the cafe of one of the most important distilleries in the area. Here they have been organically distilling essential oils from lavender and other aromatic plants since 1978. These are mainly used in their aromatherapy and proprietary line of cosmetic products. But here also the organic cultivation of spelled, chickpeas and lentils. It smells wonderful and is located in the middle of the lavender fields. After a tour of the distillery you can enjoy a lavender tea or artisan beer. You sit in the shade of a beautiful old chestnut tree.
ps. The hostess works here during the summer season.
La Promenade de Justin
The terrace par excellence of Sault. Here you have a beautiful view of the valley with its lavender fields and the top of Mont Ventoux. You see a lot of cyclists there. I recommend to have a pastis there. Petanque competitions are regularly held in the village square next to the café.
Attention, only open on weekends and holidays… but by far the nicest terrace in the area. Brantes in itself is worthwhile, but the icing on the cake is the terrace under the red parasols. Joop and Martine bought a ruin of a castle 30 years ago, and look what they made of it. You cannot ignore the fact that Joop is a ceramicist. Especially the view of the north side of Mont Ventoux and the valley of the Toulerenc cannot be described in words.
