This white mountain has a diverse mosaic of microclimates and habitats and is a <a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" class=\"yoast-seo-link\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.unesco.org\/new\/en\/natural-sciences\/environment\/ecological-sciences\/biosphere-reserves\/europe-north-america\/france\/mont-ventoux\" target=\"_blank\">UNESCO<\/a> biosphere reserve. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the Rhone Valley, the ancient vines merge into fruit trees. The cherry trees bloom fantastically and herald spring. At the foot of the mountain, the typical Mediterranean vegetation grows in an oak forest known for its truffles. Between 1000 and 1500 altimeters you will find a huge coniferous forest: surprisingly green for the southern location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just after Chalet Reynard, the typical moonscape starts with only rare arctic plants up to the top. The climate here is extreme, the mistral wind, thunderstorms but also the heat in the summer surprises many tourists every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The arrival at the top of the Ventoux is magical! On the one hand for the moonscape aspect, the view on the steep north wall with deep gorges and caves, but especially the exceptional panorama that one has here, is beautiful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sunrise is phenomenal! First, the white peaks of the Ecrin massif are lit up, the whole of Provence is at your feet. In clear weather you can even see the Mediterranean coastline.
